Research - Some Mothers Do Have Em

after watching this extract of some mother do have em i can identify the humor that was around in that time and being a perticuar clip with very little speech in it it is still a comedy rich clip. I say this because of the expressions on the characters face when he is being instructed, there is also the situations where the character takes wrong turns down the wrong streets. The most comedic part of the clip is where the other man on a bike wearing the same coat as the character crashes into the instucter.

After watching the clip it brings ideas into my head such as reunning and bashing into things.

Storyboards

Now i have my character design i have drawn my story boards and after talks with the teaching team i have come up with a sequence that is approved with the three interactive elements. My idea that i have drawn up in my storyboards is.....

• the character shuts the front door
• drinks natural fizz
• becomes energetic
• runs
  
• see three bins
• raises eyebrows
• select a bin to throw at
• throw the bottle
• three ending with the bins

1. wedges in hole
2. knocks bin over
3. lands in the bin

• three diffrent reactions - one for each situation

Character in Illustrator

After deciding to develope my character further i have have drawn the initial drawing of the character...
To add more character to my drawing i have added colour and photo scenery background to get an idea of what it will look like when it comes to making my flash animation

You will also see that i have used a brush which i created. The purpose of this brush is to give my character a more rough and refined edge to his characterstics.

Logo and bottle

Now i am getting closer to creating the content i have decided to design my logo. With the brief saying we have a limited colour plait i have created a very basic font using one font and one set of drawn letters.

I have then applied this logo to three diffrent colour bottles for red, murky and green

Characters Drawn In Flash & Colour

Over the past few days i have chosen four of my eight design ideas and drawn them in flash and added colour. Looking at these characters i feel that i am going to develope the character with green and grey clothes further and draw it in illustrator.

Research - Laurel & Hardy

Looking at these scenes and looking at where visual comedy started you can see that with certain programs have not developed that far but are targeted at a different audience. An example of this is chuckle vision, this is an example because it is still very visual comedy orientated but where as Laurel & Hardy is aimed at the whole family chuckle vision is aimed at children.

Back t0 analysing Laurel & Hardy, these scenes are very humourious for there time that they were created. This is because there was no sound around this time because te technology had not developed, therefore the imagery has to be more visual pleasing.

A cleaver use of props in a time where special effects wasent even a concept is where the use of extra large props to make Laurel & Hardy look as if they were children. There is also the use of fake legs to make it look as if hardy has bent his legs right up his chest while he is falling down the stairs. And finally there is the use of breaking glass with the ques.

All these visual heavy techniques make it a humourious piece of film for the time that it was created with no sound.

Character Ideas

Now i have done research i feel that i can come up with characters for my flash. I have come up with with ideas such as hats, hair styles and trainers for my character. There has also been the expressions on the characters faces such a smirks, smiles and frowns.

Research - Rather Good

After looking at this clip of rather good I can see how my animation may look because i can see that within this clip there has been the use of cutout sections of photos of animals and people then to create the movement if limbs the they have been rotated on axis. this ads to the humor of the clip because the character have the look of an animal but at the same time the movement of an animal. There is also the fact that a cat has moving lips and is dancing which makes the clip humourious. This clip also shows that moving media can look right with a still photo background with the moving animals and the use of photo backgrounds.

Research - Modern Toss

after looking at this clip of modern toss with the character alan which is a animated scribble over a video back drop gives me ideas about my characters situations. Looking at the humor of this clip gives me ideas but this clip being aimed at adults i would have to tone down the humor. What makes this clip funnier is that fact that there is a known funny song every time we see alan plotting his plan. When i look back on this clip you can see that it is very predictable by what the human characters are saying like the parking space scene, but considdering it is so predictable it is still funny. Then with the view of the phone line from up top along with the soud effect you can see what happens before it has. This style of comedy is funny because you know what will happen but it is still funny when it does happen.

Using Flash

After not using flash over a year ago we had a lesson on basic uses of flash the first being a shape tween as well as changing colour

after doing this lesson i remember using tools like this in my previous flash project.

there was also the use of a sound when creating the effect of a bouncy ball

Drinks Colours

After receiving the new brief and looking at the colour research i had done previously i decided to create a clolur plait for each drink. So i have found images of each ingrident and used the eyedropper tool.

New Project

After being given a short list to work on friday we have now been given the full brief i have made a mistake. this mistake being that i have designed characters of fruit over the weekend and after reading the brief i have found out that the character needs to be human such as fido dido.

Colour of fruit and veg

considering we have now been given a small brief i have gone through the process of looking at fruit and veg and because we have to use solid colours i have used the eyedropper tool to find the colours. with some fruit i have had to have more than one palit because some fruits have more than one colour.

Site Complete

I have now completed my whole site and checked it and i have decided that i am very pleased with the end result. Now i have checked the functions of my site i am pleased that they are working just the way i want. i have also looked at the layout of my pages and i feel that is structured well. When i look at the pros and cons of my website i feel that the pros of my site include my galleries, example images, logo, and colour plait. looking at the cons of my site i feel that the main con is the range of article content(some to big and some to small) . In conclusion i am satisfied with my finished result.
