Right Side Menu

after tweaking my left side menu i thought i would try the right side one. therefore here is how it looked before i changed the css

and here i aligned the text to the center to create a layout like this 

Centering Left Side Menu

Now i dont want to change my site too much so there will only be small changes. My first idea is to change the layout of the left side menu and that will be to center it to see the layout in both safari and fire fox. i will do this by changing the CSS

but after seeing how my menu layout went i decided to leave it as it was in the template. 

Centering Logo

i now plan to center my logo of my banner so i go into the html and edit it. therefor i found the coding with the inspect element of safari and edited the html like this ...

therefor the logo centered like this ...

Creating and uploading Logo and favicon

Now i decided on the template i created a logo and favicon which i wanted to ad to my template... 

after following the dvd i was looking in the sites folder on my mac and i could not find the template that i was using but i then realized that it was on the college network therefor i needed to use cyberduck to upload my favicon and logo. But so my logo didnt change the site layout i made it the same size as the original.   

Chosen Template

i have now chosen the template which i feel suits my site only now there is the process of tweaking the html and css as well as adding a favicon and logo. while i was installing templates on joomla and having problems with it failing i realized i could upload the uncompressed folder to the college server through cyber duck and refresh my template manager and they were there.

Now i have installed a number of templates for my site but i feel that none of them suit the site ... 

the first one looks like it suits the site but i still want to find a perfect template 

Links Solved

finally i worked out the links problem. For some reason when i created the links in safari they would not work, i then tried creating the links in firefox and they did work. But i realized the links might not work on safari so i checked the joomla site and they worked fine.   

LINKS WONT WORK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

after watching how to do links on the dvd i followed the instructions step by step and they still wont work for me and if i try and open them in another tab it just opens the same page again. 

Good image size

If you have wide images for your i suggest that of you want a size this is wide enough 25 cm is the perfect size. here is some examples   

Taking Photos

Today I went round Seaford finding fonts that I thought I would use in my gallery. I found a number of fonts that I thought would fit in any of the galleries but I found it easier to decide others more.

Font.com

For anybody who is having problems with finding a relevant font for the terms section a good site is fonts.com to test font then take a screen grab. I have used this on a number of terms.

Terms & Definitions

Today I have completed the images for both terms and definitions. With the terms images it was easier than the definitions images. The reason that I say this is because with the terms images I created a template then highlighted the relevant areas. But with the terms I found myself spending time searching, downloading and installing fonts to suit the relevant terms.

Image Guidance

Here is the image that I am going to use as a guide line for creating each separate image for the terms of typography. Only I am going to use a work like hand gloves, which is a longer word to show that it works on more letters.

Read more

I have now added the read more breaks off my home page. This is so that when the visitor is viewing the site they get a preview of what that article is about and have the option of reading more.

Page breaks

As we have to use page breaks on at least two of our pages I have decided to put mine on my 20th century and post war artist. The reason that I decided these pages is because these are the pages with the most information and I can divide this page into reasonable reading size.

Extra Content

I have now found the extra sections and categories that I plan to add to my site. This section is one about popular fonts used by graphic designers. Therefore within this section I plan to add two categories first being top five fonts used(with information about the font) and the second being the whole list of top 21 fonts used.I also plan to add a links section with categories of  books, websites and films

Not Enough

I have now gathered all of my content and over the past few days I have submitted the content to my joomla site. But after looking at my sections and categories I have decided that I do not have enough content for my site therefore I am going to research and find more content to create new sections and categories.

Content

Now i have finished my essay i have been gathering my content for that site. I am about half way through gathering the info the problems that i am having is that of finding the earlier century typographers.   

New Brief After The Snow

After four days of show we finally got our brief today and it seems an interesting subject about open source software. As normal i am going to get my brief out the way over the weekend so that it is complete and  dont have to think about it. i have an idea of what i am going to write about but it will need further research.
